It took me nearly two weeks to find out when the Batam-Jakarta ferry goes and how I could buy a ticket for it. Three friends if main were coming to Bali in a couple of weeks, so I was have to get on board to a specific boat to make it there on time.
Three hours to departure I was still without a ticket and harbour officials just asked me to wait patiently. When I finally pushed my bike to the ferry two hours later I felt pretty relieved. I was also happy that my ticket for the 36 hour ride had cost just a little more than 20 euros, instead of 80 what I had read online.
