4000 islands, Laos
My last stop in Laos, before crossing to border to Cambodia was at the 4000 islands at Mekong. First time I heard about this laid back, sleepy place in the middle of the one of the biggest rivers in the world was 10 years ago and since I have wanted to get here. Though today quite touristy, it’s still very special. Everybody is happy and even tourists say hi to each other. Main activities are sleeping and eating home made ice cream. I got a bungalow of my own for four dollars and enjoyed banana pancakes, egg sandwiches and coffee for breakfast with outstanding Mekong sunrises. I planned to stay a night and ended up staying four. Could have stayed a month.
