4700m, Sichuan, China
10cm of snow is not a big deal at home, but in Chinese Tibet it nearly blocks the roads. A 700m climb of gravelly steep switch backs up to 4700m turned into an ice skating track and only the big four wheel drives with snow chains managed to make it to the top of the pass. For me this meant a lot of pushing. Half way up to the pass full moon illuminated the white scenery and I turned off my bike lights.
Four hours later it felt amazing to have finalized the assumed hard part of China and finally coast down from the High Tibetan plateau. In the picture I was just about to start a 60km downhill in moonlight in the temperature of -20 Celsius. It was a cold ride!
