Back five weeks and to the beginning of China.
Many long distance cyclists I know have taken a train across the Western China, as obtaining a three month visa on the road is currently nearly impossible, and the route across the Taklamakan desert, North East Himalayas and Tibetan plateau seem to be simply too long and challenging to be ridden in two months. Many focus on their ride to the provinces of Sichuan and Yunnan.
Taklamakan desert is the second biggest sand desert after Sahara. It is also the final leg of the Silk Road.
It would be sad to miss the nearly 2000km of sand.
